Today, we return to one of the brightest chapters in the history of Albanian football — the Skënderbeu team that not only dominated the domestic championship but also dared to dream on the international stage.
It was the 2017–2018 season. A carefully built team, full of character and a desire to leave a mark. Skënderbeu at that time was not just a team — it was a group of men representing more than a club; they embodied the pride of a city and the hope of an entire league. In goal, and more than that, as an unwavering leader, stood Orges Shehi. In front of him, strong figures like Marko Radaš, Bajram Jashanica, Tefik Osmani, and Gledi Mici formed a defensive wall respected even in Europe. In midfield, Bruno Dita and Sabien Lilaj brought balance and creativity, while on the wings and in attack, James Adeniyi and Ali Sowe were the arrows threatening every opponent.
And as if the names weren’t enough, there was harmony on the field, tireless work, trust, and experience. Kristi Vangjeli, Gjergji Muzaka, and many others were part of this collective that made Korçë the focal point of Albanian football for several consecutive years.
This Skënderbeu did not stop at national borders. On the European stage, they not only competed with dignity but managed to pass the early group stages of the Europa League, facing major teams with pride and fighting spirit.
Today, this team is remembered not just for the trophies, but for a style of play, a professional approach, and an era that is not easily forgotten.
