A wave of hot air known as the “African heatwave” is expected to affect the region this week, bringing a noticeable rise in temperatures. According to meteorologists, the mercury will climb steadily, especially in inland areas, leading to intense heat across much of the country.

Early in the week, temperatures are forecast to be moderate, but by midweek, a significant increase is expected. Daytime highs in some lowland areas could exceed 37–39°C, while mountainous regions will also experience higher-than-average values, ranging between 30–33°C.

Meteorologist reports also mention warmer nights, with minimum temperatures not dropping below 20–22°C, especially in urban centers.

Although the skies are expected to remain mostly clear with little chance of rain, citizens are advised to take precautions during peak heat hours — particularly from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. by staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure, and reducing physical activity outdoors.

The heatwave is expected to persist into the weekend, possibly intensifying before a slight cooling trend at the start of next week.
