For 2026, the electricity price for citizens will remain unchanged. The Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE) has decided to keep in effect the 700-kilowatt threshold approved in January of this year.
Thus, all households consuming up to 700 kilowatts per month will continue to pay 8.5 lek/kilowatt excluding VAT, down from 9.5 lek/kilowatt before January 2025. Meanwhile, all household subscribers exceeding 700 kilowatts per month—even by just 1 kilowatt—will continue to pay the unchanged price of 9.5 lek/kilowatt, excluding VAT, as is currently the case.
“Based on the data submitted by the company, the prices approved by Decisions No. 10, dated 8.1.2025, and No. 255, dated 15.10.2025, generate revenues that cover the company’s operational costs, ensuring normal operations, which are expected to continue in the same manner for 2026. For FSHU sh.a. to carry out its licensed activities in 2026, it is necessary to continue billing based on the prices approved by ERE,” the decision published in the Official Gazette states.
The ERE decision was originally valid until December 31, 2025, but is now extended until the end of 2026. According to official figures, over 1 million household consumers use up to 700 kilowatts per month.
