The Kolonjë tender case: Mayor Erion Isai moves to “defendant” status

The Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has formally charged Kolonjë Mayor Erion Isai.

According to journalist Klodiana Lala, Isai is accused of violating equality in public tenders and auctions, a crime related to the management of public resources in Kolonjë Municipality.

The mayor appeared at the Special Prosecution offices on the morning of January 15, 2025, but declined to comment to journalists about the reason for his summons. When asked by the media, he briefly replied: “When I come out, I don’t know.”

Previously, on May 30, 2023, Erion Isai was questioned by special prosecutors for three hours. With SACS’s latest decision, he officially becomes a defendant, indicating that investigations have progressed and the case is expected to move toward trial.

The case is still under investigation, and there has been no official statement from Isai or representatives of Kolonjë Municipality.
