A day after the surprise announcement from Australian club Sydney FC about ending their collaboration with Douglas Costa, the real reason behind the move has come to light.

The Porto Alegre court in Brazil has issued an arrest warrant for the 35-year-old Brazilian, known for his stellar career with Juventus and Bayern Munich. According to Brazilian media, the warrant is related to ongoing legal matters initiated by his ex-wife, though full details have not yet been made public.

A few hours earlier, Sydney FC officially announced on social media that Costa’s contract had been terminated, citing “personal and legal reasons” that prevented the player from traveling to Australia. The Australian club added that it understands the delicate situation and wishes the player a swift resolution.

Douglas Costa, known for his speed and dribbling, has been one of Brazilian football’s standout names over the past decade. Now, his career appears to be at a critical juncture as he faces serious legal issues in his home country.
