Four people have been arrested in Shijak after police discovered a warehouse used for cultivating narcotic plants.

Police report:

As part of measures to identify and combat the cultivation of narcotic plants in both open and enclosed spaces, and based on operational intelligence, the Shijak Police Station, in cooperation with the Durrës Local Police Directorate, conducted intensive inspections of enclosed spaces to detect and dismantle narcotic plant cultivation using lamps.

During the operation codenamed “Adaptation,” police discovered a warehouse rented by J. Gj. in the “Popullore” neighborhood of Shijak, which had been adapted for cultivating narcotic plants using equipment powered by illegal electricity connections.

At the scene, authorities seized as evidence: 180 pots that had previously contained cannabis plants (cut prior to police intervention), suspected cannabis material, a water pump, air filter, suction tube, 7 electric lamps, 7 fans, 16 electricity packages, a fuse block, and other equipment used for cultivation.

Following the investigation, four individuals were arrested on the spot:

L. K., 54, and J. Gj., 31, suspected of “Cultivation of narcotic plants” in collaboration;

S. D., 24, suspected of “Failure to report a crime”;

R. B., 61, suspected of “Abuse of duty.”

Additionally, D. K., 25 (son of L. K.), is wanted for “Cultivation of narcotic plants” in collaboration.

Investigations indicate that L. K., together with his son D. K., rented the enclosed space to J. Gj., who, in cooperation with them, adapted it for narcotic plant cultivation.

R. B. (an OSHEE employee) is suspected of failing to report the illegal electricity connection in the warehouse.

S. D. is suspected of being aware of the criminal activity but not reporting it.

Police continue efforts to apprehend the 25-year-old and fully document this criminal activity.

Procedural materials have been referred to the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
