A tragic event has shaken the tourist community on the Greek island of Santorini, where a 6-year-old child from India lost his life after drowning in a hotel pool in the Kamari area. According to Greek media, at the time of the accident there were several people in the pool, including the child’s parents, but no one noticed that he was at the bottom of the water.

The incident was discovered only after another guest, while swimming, accidentally kicked the child and noticed his presence in the water. After being pulled from the pool, first aid was administered, including cardiac massage and a defibrillator, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful. The ambulance arrived within seven minutes, but the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Greek authorities have launched a full investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident. It is suspected that the pool lacked a lifeguard, and documents related to the hotel’s licensing and the legal responsibilities of the staff and parents are being reviewed. The parents have been questioned and are expected to appear in court, while police continue to investigate whether negligence or a lack of safety measures contributed to the tragedy.

This incident has shocked not only the family and hotel guests but also the wider tourist community of Santorini, one of Greece’s most popular destinations, raising serious concerns about safety in public areas and the responsibilities of tourism operators.
