New details have emerged from the tragedy that shook Italy, where four members of an Albanian family lost their lives, reportedly due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Ernest Çela, a fellow Albanian neighbor of the family, who was among the first to enter the house along with the carabinieri, spoke to the media about the dramatic moments of the intervention. He recounted that around 21:30 he came face to face with the four unconscious bodies on the second floor of the house, noting that at that moment the victims still had a pulse.

“Around 21:30, the carabinieri patrol arrived together with the uncle of the boy who passed away. We immediately entered the house and went up to the second floor, where I saw four bodies lying unconscious on the floor. At that moment, I immediately checked if they still had a pulse, and up to that point, they still had heartbeat. Then, at one point, the boy’s uncle — who is now hospitalized in Cisanello in serious condition — lost consciousness. After that, I also started feeling dizzy.

Then, together with my father and two carabinieri, we realized that there was something in the air, a gas or something similar. So we all went outside immediately. Once outside, we realized the room contained carbon monoxide. Firefighters arrived shortly afterward; I cannot say if there was any delay. An ambulance was also at the scene. After going outside, we were given first aid,” the young man said.
