Transferred 3 million euros from Albania to Austria. SPAC opens a new investigation into Arben Ahmetaj

Details emerge from the court session for former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, who is accused of abuse of office, while SPAK has opened a new investigation into the fugitive former official.

Prosecutor Elvin Gokaj requested that 14 people be questioned as witnesses, including former minister Shkëlqim Cani. The SPAK prosecutor emphasized that it has come to attention that a large sum of money, specifically 3 million euros, was transferred from Albania to an EU country, namely Austria.

“We have come across a large sum of money that was transferred from Albania to an EU country, which is currently being verified,” said the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, Ahmetaj’s lawyer stated: “The prosecutor is saying that if something comes out of this, an indictment will be filed. If there are further investigations on this matter, the prosecutor had no rush to close the investigations. It cannot be a proper process with surprise actions; if there is other evidence, the prosecutor should present it.”
