Pandeli Nakoleci, the 40-year-old Albanian who killed his wife in Volos, Greece, appeared before the Prosecutor’s Office this Sunday.

The perpetrator of the macabre crime did not answer journalists’ question, “Why did you do it?” maintaining his silence. Greek media reported that Nakoleci showed no signs of remorse for the crime during his initial statements to investigators, claiming that the motive was his 36-year-old wife’s alleged infidelity.

Pandeli Nakoleci was arrested on Saturday, 24 hours after committing the grave crime in a parking lot in central Volos, about 200 meters from the home he shared with his wife and their children.

The 40-year-old, who killed his wife in front of their minor children, was known to use narcotics, and his family told ABC News that he had mental health issues. The couple had frequent arguments recently, and last June, by order of the prosecutor, Nakoleci was sent to a clinic for psychiatric evaluation after a suicide attempt.

Pandeli Nakoleci had previous arrests for drug possession in 2019. In 2018, he was sentenced to one year in prison for providing false testimony. In 2020, he received a four-year sentence for participating in a criminal organization and drug trafficking. Earlier, in 2013, he was arrested for forgery and illegal entry into the neighboring country.
