World Cup / Netherlands, Brazil and Canada lose important players, while several other national teams are also facing significant absences due to injuries…

Just before the start of the World Cup, several national teams have been forced to adjust their plans because of injuries to key players.

The Netherlands will travel to North America without defender Jurrien Timber. The Arsenal player did not manage to recover in time from a hip injury. Coach Ronald Koeman decided to call up Lutsharel Geertruida in his place, a teammate of Granit Xhaka at Sunderland.

Canada has also suffered an important defensive setback. Moise Bombito, one of the pillars of their defense, will not be available for the tournament.

Brazil has lost right-back Wesley, who suffered a thigh injury during a friendly match against Egypt. Head coach Carlo Ancelotti called up midfielder Ederson to replace him.

The list of injury absences also includes Christoph Baumgartner (Austria), Rodrygo and Éder Militão (Brazil), Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl (Germany), Hugo Ekitike (France), as well as Xavi Simons (Netherlands).
