The year-end bonus that pensioners and other eligible categories will receive will be more than 5,000 lek. With the government having tripled the fund for this year’s bonus, it is expected that the same formula used in 2024 will apply again. Thus, around 515,000 individuals receiving pensions up to 20,000 lek will benefit from a 15,000 lek bonus, while those with pensions above 20,000 lek will receive an additional 10,000 lek.
“The year-end bonus for pensioners, which has consistently seen both an increase in frequency and in the amount granted, continues to focus on improving the standard of living for the vulnerable category of pensioners. It provides greater security and predictability for around 756,000 pensioners, along with strengthened trust in the government’s attentive and supportive approach,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile, by 2029, the minimum pension is expected to double. From around 10,000 lek currently, the monthly payment for the elderly and other beneficiaries will rise to at least 20,000 lek. The government also aims to double the average pension over the next four years from around 200 euros now to approximately 400 euros.
