Cunha shines with a brace as Brazil secured its first victory at the 2026 World Cup

Matheus Cunha scored twice, while Vinícius Júnior added the third as Brazil claimed their first win of the 2026 World Cup.


Brazil secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Haiti in Philadelphia. Carlo Ancelotti’s side wrapped up the result in the first half thanks to an impressive display from Lucas Paquetá, Cunha and Vinícius.


After an unconvincing opening match, the Seleção responded with a dominant performance. Cunha scored the first two goals, while Vinícius sealed the 3-0 result just before halftime.


Brazil controlled the match from the opening whistle. In the 11th minute, Raphinha found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside. The FC Barcelona winger also had another chance in the 21st minute, but his effort went wide.


The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute. After a shot from Vinícius and a save by goalkeeper Placide, the ball fell kindly to Cunha, who made no mistake to score for 1-0.


The second goal arrived in the 36th minute following a rapid counterattack. Paquetá won possession in midfield, Vinícius launched the move and set up Cunha, who doubled Brazil’s lead with a powerful finish.


In first-half stoppage time, Paquetá delivered another precise through ball. Vinícius burst into the box and beat the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.


Brazil eased off in the second half, with Ancelotti rotating his squad. Haiti’s best chance came in the 63rd minute when Alisson Becker saved Adé’s header, while Danilo cleared the ball off the line.


Vinícius and Gabriel Martinelli also created more chances, while Endrick had a goal disallowed for offside.


With this win, Brazil moves to four points and sits top of Group C alongside Morocco. Scotland follows with three points, while Haiti remains without a point. Brazil will face Scotland next, while Haiti takes on Morocco.
