Regarding the protest held on February 28, 2026, at 18:00, called by the Democratic Party of Albania, the Sector for the Investigation of Serious Crimes has continued investigative and procedural actions, resulting in the arrest of four individuals.
Those arrested are L. M., 20 years old; R. D., 33; D. R., 21; and S. R., 36, suspected of the criminal offenses “Assault due to official duty,” “Disturbance of public order,” “Violation of rules on explosives and incendiary materials,” “Arson and property destruction,” and “Resisting a public official.”
Preliminary investigations suggest that during the protest, these individuals committed acts of violence, resisted police officers, and threw pyrotechnic devices and Molotov cocktails toward law enforcement and Villa 31, where foreign nationals were present, endangering their safety. The actions caused damage to the building and to 32 trash bins placed by the Municipality of Tirana.
As material evidence, Molotov cocktails and pyrotechnic devices were seized and sent for further forensic examination.
Additionally, a 16-year-old minor was processed in a free state after being found in possession of ammunition suspected for use with a sporting weapon.
The case has also been referred to the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) regarding citizen K. B., a member of parliament, for violations of Law no. 9754, dated 14.06.2007 “On the Criminal Liability of Legal Persons” and for the criminal offense “Organization and participation in illegal gatherings and demonstrations.”
Video footage from the protest has been collected and is being reviewed to identify other individuals involved in unlawful activities. Procedural materials will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
