Weather conditions have damaged apple production in Dvoran, Korçë, resulting in a smaller quantity reaching the market. As a consequence, the price of this fruit is expected to be higher than usual.

This year has been difficult for apple growers in the Korçë region due to unfavorable weather directly affecting production yields. For *Euronews Albania*, this concern is raised by Jorgo Braholli, a farmer from Dvoran.

“Directly from the orchard, it’s about 800 old lek per kilogram. This is a record price for wholesale sales by farmers. In spring, agriculture was hit by low temperatures, and many varieties have no yield this year,” says Braholli.

According to him, this situation will also impact consumers’ budgets.

“We have a problem: the market will take them at a high price, and this will affect citizens’ pockets.”

Arben Likollari, another apple farmer in Dvoran, known for his cultivation, confirms that production is low this year. However, he emphasizes that the quality of the fruit is better than last year.

“It has been a difficult year due to climatic conditions and spring frosts. Nevertheless, we have managed to produce high-quality fruit. Retailers take the super-quality produce,” Likollari explains.

In Korçë County, between 80,000 and 120,000 tons of apples are produced each year. About 28% of this quantity is stored in refrigerated conditions, ensuring market supply for the following months.
