If you are skilled in finance, information technology, or healthcare… then 2026 is your year. This is not an astrological prediction, but a well-founded analysis based on labor market demand and supply.
“Based on articles from Forbes and various international forecasts, the most in-demand skills of 2025 continue to be computer-related, artificial intelligence… but there is also an increasing focus on interpersonal skills as well as technical skills, mainly related to healthcare,” said Lutjona Lula, labor market expert.
“Technology and artificial intelligence will always be positions in demand. But I don’t think this applies to us. We have more urgent problems,” said Emin Shini, labor market expert.
With an even deeper human resources crisis and very limited alternatives, Albania primarily directs its workforce needs toward tourism, construction, and then information technology.
“Following the trend from 2024, there is certainly a high demand for some professions we call ‘medium-skilled,’ such as electricians, mechanics, and plumbers. Tourism and construction are two sectors that suffer and will continue to suffer from a lack of workforce,” Shini added.
The crisis of the past two years has made businesses pay more attention than ever to employees. Yet companies still struggle to attract “Generation Z,” young people born in the late 1990s.
“Young people from Generation Z place more importance on mental well-being, equal treatment at work, and feeling motivated to do meaningful tasks. That’s why there is often a cultural clash,” said Lula.
2025 was the fourth consecutive year in Albania with salary increases. On average, a waiter earns between 800 and 1,000 euros, a head chef up to 1,200 euros. Construction workers earn between 700 and 900 euros, while an IT or construction engineer earns between 1,000 and 2,000 euros.
