Niko Peleshi celebrates his 55th birthday today as Speaker of the Parliament!

Niko Peleshi celebrates his birthday today, turning 55 as Speaker of the Albanian Parliament.

The politician from Korçë marks his 55th year in a prominent role as head of the Parliament of Albania.

Peleshi’s career as a leader began differently from his current position. He initially served as the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Korçë.

Through his political engagement with the Socialist Party, he was appointed Prefect of Korçë, paving the way for his candidacy and eventual election as mayor, a role he held for one and a half terms.

Peleshi later left his parliamentary seat to join the Rama government as Deputy Prime Minister.

He has also held positions as Minister of Agriculture and Food, and Minister of Defense.

As the political leader of the Socialist Party in Korçë County, following the last parliamentary elections, Niko Peleshi was nominated by the head of the winning party for the position of Speaker of the Albanian Parliament. During his tenure, he faced a vote of no confidence from the opposition, which did not shake his position as the head of Parliament.
