Prefect Jole: In Korça county only one active fire remains

In Korça county, there is only one active fire. According to the most up-to-date information, the fire that broke out near the Germenj Nature Park on August 11 appears relatively calmer today, but there are still active hotspots (marked in red on the map).

On the ground today, around 65 personnel from the Fire Protection and Rescue Service, the Regional Administration of Protected Areas, border police, municipal service employees, and local volunteers are engaged, supported by 35 army troops. The terrain poses difficulties, as it takes nearly 3 hours to reach the affected area, and great caution is required since the zone also contains munitions.

Efforts have been ongoing for six days to prevent the fire from spreading further into the protected area.

Local authorities are also in contact with their Greek counterparts to coordinate actions, hoping that the situation will improve even further today.

I once again appeal for increased caution from everyone, to avoid such situations that demand extensive human resources and significant budgetary expenses to neutralize!
