Residents of the village of Leminot, part of the Maliq Municipality, have been facing a chronic problem for years that has severely affected their daily lives: the lack of drinking water. Water supply is available only for a few hours a day, and the amount provided often isn’t enough even for basic needs, forcing residents to find temporary solutions.

According to the locals, the situation becomes even more difficult during the summer months, when high temperatures significantly increase water demand. They report that repeated promises from the municipality and relevant institutions for improvements or new investments often remain unseen on the ground, leaving a sense of disappointment and mistrust.

In the absence of a stable supply, residents are forced to fill tanks, fetch water from nearby sources, or dig wells a solution that does not always guarantee safe quality and brings additional costs for families. This situation has caused not only practical difficulties but also concerns about the health and hygiene of their households.

The Maliq Municipality, on its part, has announced that the drinking water supply investment project is nearing completion and is expected to conclude by the end of this year. According to officials, this project will resolve once and for all the longstanding water shortage problem in Leminot.

However, residents remain skeptical. They have heard similar promises in the past, and it remains to be seen whether this time the words will truly translate into running water from their taps. Their situation reflects a broader issue of infrastructure and public service management, where the need for transparency and the implementation of projects on the ground has become increasingly urgent.
