Tragedy in New Jersey: Two teenage girls lose their lives, 17-year-old arrested as suspect

A serious incident has shaken the quiet community of Cranford, New Jersey, where two teenage girls lost their lives following an incident that occurred on Monday afternoon. A 17-year-old from Garwood was arrested near the scene and is suspected of being responsible for the fatal crash.

According to U.S. media, neighbors had noticed the frequent presence of the teenager outside one of the victims’ homes in recent months, raising suspicions of ongoing stalking. The crash occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Burnside Avenue, a residential street with a 40 km/h (25 mph) speed limit. According to police, a 2021 Jeep Compass struck the two girls and immediately fled the scene without stopping.
