Two underage sisters, aged 16 and 12, have been reported missing from a residential center for minors in the L’Aquila area of Italy, raising concern among authorities and their family members. The case is being investigated by the Sulmona Prosecutor’s Office, while one of the working hypotheses being considered is a possible abduction.

According to Italian media reports, the 16-year-old Alisya Di Giacinto’s boyfriend told investigators that the girl’s behavior had changed recently and that she seemed more withdrawn than usual.

“It was as if she had something inside she wanted to tell me, but couldn’t express it,” he said, adding that the girls “were afraid of the dark.”

So far, authorities have not officially confirmed any motive that could have led to their disappearance.

Investigators are examining several leads, including the possibility of kidnapping, while at this stage of the investigation there is no evidence indicating that the two sisters left voluntarily.

The search operation has entered its fifth day, involving specialized units and trained tracking dogs used in missing persons cases. A reported possible sighting of the girls earlier has not been confirmed by authorities.

According to preliminary investigation data, the two sisters are believed to have left the center where they were staying between 02:00 and 05:00 on June 7. They did not take their mobile phones or other personal belongings that could help in their identification or tracking.

The girls’ parents, who are divorced, have made a public appeal for help in finding them. Meanwhile, investigations continue under the direction of the Sulmona Prosecutor’s Office and prosecutor Stefano Iafolla, who has registered a criminal proceeding for the offense of “kidnapping of minors.”
