An unusual incident occurred at Tameside Hospital in Manchester, UK, where an anesthesiologist was caught leaving a patient under anesthesia in the operating room to take a short break, during which he had sexual relations with a nurse in an adjacent room.
The doctor, Suhail Anjum, 44, had instructed a nurse to monitor the patient, who was prepared for a scheduled surgery. However, another colleague discovered him in a separate room engaging in the act with the nurse.
Anjum admitted to his actions, describing it as a personal low point and a wrongful behavior, though he stated that the patient was not at risk. He said he felt extremely stressed and needed to relieve tension, but healthcare authorities consider his conduct very serious and unacceptable.
The doctor now faces disciplinary procedures before the Medical Tribunal and risks losing his professional license. Fortunately, the patient was not physically harmed during the incident, but the event has caused significant concern within the medical community and among the public, sparking debates about responsibility and ethics in medical practice.
This incident serves as a warning to regulators and healthcare professionals to maintain the highest standards of safety and ethics when treating patients.
