The Albanian village is being destroyed, and this is not happening by chance. It is a deliberate policy of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
We recall that every day the government strikes agriculture, making rural life increasingly impossible. The decision to remove the 20% VAT on self-invoicing stands out as one of the most unjust measures. Because of it, farmers were stripped of any economic protection and left vulnerable to the sales market.
As a result, the consequences are evident. Today, traders no longer buy domestic produce because imported goods are cheaper. This is not incompetence, but a deliberate government policy that favors imports and punishes Albanian producers. The result is equally clear: villages are being emptied, land is left barren, and farmers are going bankrupt.
The removal of VAT on self-invoicing was not a reform. It was a calculated decision to weaken national agriculture and open the market to foreign goods. Today, the village suffers, not because it lacks land or work, but because it lacks good governance that protects it.
Our national crisis is not in agriculture! The crisis is in governance! Albania has fertile land and willing people, but a state that abandons them. Instead of support, farmers face barriers that push them toward bankruptcy and emigration. If this policy does not change, Albania risks losing not only its agriculture but also the very vitality of its villages and its youth.
Therefore, this is not just an economic issue. It is a national issue!
We need to design policies that protect domestic production, ensure a fair market for farmers, and see the village as the foundation of national development. We cannot remain silent any longer. It is time to stand up, demand accountability, and enforce change.
Only in this way can we save the land, the villages, the youth, and our future.
