DOCUMENT / Democratic Party demands annulment of elections in Korça region: Here are the proofs of the electoral farce

The Democratic Party has officially requested the annulment of the elections in the Korça region.

The request has been submitted to the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS), seeking a repeat of the elections across the entire region.

In the document submitted to KAS, the Democratic Party presents what it claims are proofs of an electoral massacre in the region.

Firstly, it highlights the systematic use of public administration and state structures in favor of the Socialist Party’s electoral interests.

It also mentions the use of this administration and public structures to influence the diaspora vote.

The document states that the entire state apparatus was mobilized to secure just 36 votes from the women's prison in Pojskë. As a result, the outcome was 100 percent in favor of the Socialist Party.

The Democratic Party’s document also cites the preliminary OSCE/ODIHR report, which noted that the Korça region was among those with serious problems during the elections.

The international report highlighted allegations of vote buying in Korça and the involvement of so-called "patronage" structures in pressuring citizens.

Furthermore, the DP complaint states that concrete evidence exists of flour being distributed for votes in the Maliq area.

It also details specific cases where government officials provided favors to local businesses.

The use of pre-election road paving and infrastructure investments—prohibited by law—is included in the case file.

The document also cites mass hirings in the public administration during the campaign as part of efforts to buy votes.

A significant portion of the dossier focuses on the manipulation of the diaspora vote, pointing out that one-third of all ballots from Greece arrived in a single day.

The document concludes that the electoral farce culminated on election day.

It’s worth noting that the Democratic Party has begun seeking the annulment of results region by region following what it calls the electoral massacre of May 11, 2025.
