PENSION BONUS ANNOUNCED / Decision takes effect, expert explains who is eligible

The year 2026 begins with the implementation of the government’s decision to provide monthly compensation for pensioners, a measure aimed at easing the financial burden on the elderly amid rising prices. Expert Kujtim Hoxha, in an interview with Ora News, explained who qualifies and how much additional money each category receives.

Pensioners receiving up to 40,000 ALL per month will benefit from up to 1,800 ALL extra per month.

Those with pensions up to 22,000 ALL receive an additional 800 ALL

Pensioners with incomes up to 18,000 ALL receive 1,000 ALL per month

Special categories also benefit:

Disability pensioners receive an extra 600 ALL

Family pensions receive 700 ALL extra per month

Hoxha emphasizes that while the aid is welcome, it does not solve the larger problem of pensions being insufficient relative to the real cost of living.

He also explained recent changes in the pension law, which foresee a gradual increase in the retirement age for women by two months each year until 2032. As a result, women will retire this year at the age of 62.
